Türkiye anticipates achieving a record 2.7 lakh Indian tourist arrivals for the previous year, targeting a further increase to 3.5 lakh in the upcoming year, according to Onur Gözet, Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Republic of Türkiye.
The estimated 2.7 lakh Indian tourists for 2023 represent a significant surge over the figures from 2022. The goal is to position India among Türkiye’s top ten source markets in the next two to three years, reflecting the country’s significance as an emerging tourism market.
Turkey Aims For Tourists
Gözet highlighted ongoing efforts to streamline visa application procedures for Indian travellers, emphasizing the collaborative approach between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Türkiye is keen on strengthening transportation links between the two nations, recognizing the pivotal role of convenient connectivity in boosting tourism.
The tourism sector in Türkiye aims to diversify its offerings, catering to various preferences of Indian tourists.
Türkiye has witnessed a significant rise in popularity for destination weddings among Indian couples, contributing to the country’s appeal as a preferred wedding destination. Gözet sees this segment as a strategic way to promote Indian culture in Türkiye.
In collaboration with the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and Türkiye Tourism and Promotion Agency have organized a six-city roadshow in India, commencing from New Delhi.
