However, these albums did not replicate the commercial success of her debut. Despite the critical acclaim, they sold fewer copies, and “Eleven Kinds of Loneliness” did not chart at all.

It was her last studio album with WEA Records, culminating her contract with the release of “The Best of Tanita Tikaram” in 1996.
Tanita continued to evolve as an artist, releasing “The Cappuccino Songs” in 1998 under Mother Records. After a brief hiatus, she re-emerged in 2005 with “Sentimental,” released on a French label. This album showcased a more mature and introspective side of her music, reflecting her personal and artistic growth.
In 2012, she released “Can’t Go Back,” her first album in seven years, followed by “Closer to the People” in 2016. These albums were well-received by critics and fans alike, proving that Tanita’s music still resonated deeply with her audience.
