Sikh Student : The Consulate General of India in Vancouver has vehemently denounced the attack on a Sikh student in the Canadian province of British Columbia, urging swift action against those responsible.
On September 11, a 17-year-old Sikh student was either sprayed with beer or pepper spray by a student as he left from a public transit bus on his way home. The incident occurred at the intersection of Rutland Rd S and Robson Rd E in British Columbia, as reported by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Via a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Consulate General of India in Vancouver expressed its strong condemnation of the assault on an Indian national in Kelowna and requested Canadian authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident and take immediate action against the culprits.
Sikh Student & His Journey
Authorities found that a 17-year-old Sikh student was subjected to either bear or pepper spray by another male teenager upon disembarking from a public transit bus during his journey home.
This incident followed a dispute on the bus that led to the individuals involved being instructed to leave the vehicle. Law enforcement mentioned that they have gathered statements from multiple witnesses and identified the teenage suspect.
The statement also noted that investigators are actively gathering CCTV footage and other pertinent details, including efforts to ascertain the motive behind the crime.
