Defeating contestants from over 90 nations, Palacios captivated judges and audiences alike with her grace, charm, and undeniable stage presence.

The grand coronation, hosted in El Salvador, unfolded with Miss Universe 2022, R’Bonney Gabriel of the USA, crowning the newly anointed queen. Sheynnis Palacios is the first Nicaraguan woman to be bestowed with the Miss Universe crown in 2023, marking a momentous achievement for her and her nation.
Sheynnis Palacios’ journey to the crown was not without stiff competition, notably from India’s Shweta Sharda, who had secured her spot in the Miss Universe 2023 semifinals by winning the Miss Diva Universe 2023 title earlier in the year. Sharda, a 23-year-old dancer hailing from Chandigarh, had expressed her eagerness to make India proud on the global stage.
“I’ve been dreaming about this moment for so long, and seeing it come true is simply beyond words,” Shweta Sharda shared with the media after winning Miss Diva Universe. Despite the fierce competition, Sharda showcased her talent and charisma, earning her a spot among the Miss Universe 2023 semifinalists.
Shweta, who relocated to Mumbai at the age of 16 to pursue her dreams, has left an indelible mark in the Indian entertainment scene. Featuring in popular dance shows like ‘DID,’ ‘Dance Deewane,’ and ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja,’ Sharda’s journey to the Miss Universe stage reflects not only her personal growth but also her dedication to her craft.
Shweta Sharda continues to represent India on the global stage, it’s worth noting that three Indian beauties have previously clinched the Miss Universe crown—Sushmita Sen in 1994, Lara Dutta in 2000, and Harnaz Sandhu in 2022.The 72nd Miss Universe pageant showcased not only the beauty and grace of its contestants but also the diversity and talent that span across nations.
