Growing up in Montgomery County, Maryland, Sam Arora was instilled with the values of hard work and perseverance by his parents, who immigrated to the United States in the 1970s. Sam attended the prestigious Barrie School, where he distinguished himself as a natural leader, serving as the student body president and graduating as salutatorian.

His academic journey continued at Columbia University, where he co-founded the Columbia Political Union and earned a bachelor’s degree cum laude. He further honed his skills at Georgetown University Law Center, obtaining a J.D. degree while serving as the president of the student bar association.

Currently, Sam Arora serves as the Vice President for Business Development at the Arora Group, a healthcare services firm specializing in serving the Department of Defense and the U.S. Coast Guard. His professional acumen and dedication have played a pivotal role in the company’s success.

Political Career

Sam Arora’s foray into politics was fueled by a passion for public service and a desire to bring about positive change in his community. His journey began in 1999, working as an intern for U.S. Senator Carl Levin before embarking on roles within the Democratic National Committee and various political campaigns, including those of Senator Hillary Clinton.

In 2010, Sam Arora achieved a significant milestone in his political career by winning a seat in the Maryland House of Delegates, representing the state’s 19th district. His platform centered on advocating for progressive causes, including support for same-sex marriage in Maryland.

Same-Sex Marriage Advocacy

One of the defining moments of Sam Arora’s political career was his stance on same-sex marriage legislation in Maryland. Initially, he co-sponsored a bill supporting marriage equality but faced backlash after indicating his intention to vote against it.
