Notably, this incentive isn’t limited to those graduating in 2023 or later, even individuals who earned their academic degrees before this year are eligible to benefit, ensuring a broad and inclusive reach within the student community.

This inclusive approach encompasses both public and private institutions, even recognizing academic degrees obtained abroad, as long as they are duly acknowledged in Portugal.

To ensure a targeted and regulated application, the government has emphasized that the support is exclusively dedicated to individuals falling under dependent work category and also self-employed workers category.

Eligible graduates and master’s degree holders are set to receive an annual salary bonus of €697 for each year of their bachelor’s degree and €1,500 for each year of their master’s degree.

Those who earned their degrees before 2023 can also still claim the bonus, adding a retrospective dimension to the initiative. This forward-thinking policy was officially endorsed in November.

The significance of this move is underscored by Portugal’s continuous appeal as a destination for international students, reaffirming the country’s commitment to nurturing a competitive and highly qualified workforce.
