The pursuit of knowledge and the pursuit of dreams led Padma back to the United States in 1988, where she attended graduate school at Stony Brook University, her parents’ alma mater. In 1998, she and her husband settled in Troy, Michigan, continuing her remarkable journey.

Kuppa’s professional career includes working as a mechanical engineer and project manager at Chrysler for over five years, followed by her role as a business analyst at Ally Financial. She also served on the City of Troy’s Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals, making a positive impact on her community.

In 2018, Padma Kuppa achieved a milestone by being elected to the Michigan House of Representatives, marking her entry into politics. She represented House District 41, comprising the cities of Troy and Clawson, as a Democrat.

During her tenure, she was named Assistant Whip for her caucus and served on significant committees, including the Energy Committee and the Local Government and Municipal Finance Committee.

Her dedication and hard work led to her re-election in 2020, with 55.04 percent of the vote.
