OMG 2 Release : The countdown to the much-anticipated release of “(Oh My God 2)” (OMG 2), starring the powerhouse trio of Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi, has left fans on the edge of their seats. However, as the release date draws near, a shadow of uncertainty looms over the film’s certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Bollywood Hungama has obtained exclusive inside access to the reason behind the delay in certification for OMG 2.
According to a confidential source close to the CBFC, the core plot of OMG 2 has become a cause of concern for the board. While the film ostensibly delves into the subject of sex education, it also bravely tackles the sensitive topic of masturbation. This bold narrative, however, intertwines with religious angles, a combination that the CBFC fears might inadvertently hurt the sentiments of the Indian audience. The source revealed that the CBFC is exercising extreme caution in granting the film a certification, as they wish to avoid any controversy similar to what followed the release of “Adipurush.”
OMG 2 Release & Censor Board Approval
Despite the apprehensions, the reports from the censor board regarding OMG 2 are overwhelmingly positive. (Akshay Kumar) is being hailed for once again choosing a daring and unconventional subject. The film presents a unique courtroom drama that revolves around a father’s unwavering fight for the custody of his child, with sex education playing a pivotal role in the case.
The source divulged that during the closed screening, the members of the censor board were visibly moved by the film’s content, giving it a unanimous standing ovation. However, stepping out into the brightness of the day, they found themselves confronted with the complexity of the subject matter and its potential implications on a larger scale.
As of now, the CBFC has asked the makers of OMG 2 to make 20 specific cuts, affecting audio, video, or a combination of both, to be eligible for an Adult Only Certificate. However, Akshay Kumar and the entire team are staunchly appealing for a U/A certificate, hoping to reach a broader audience while maintaining the film’s essence.
The much-awaited OMG 2 is scheduled to hit the silver screens on August 11, 2023. It remains to be seen how the certification battle unfolds and whether the CBFC will grant the film the desired rating that balances its boldness with the sensitivity needed to handle a subject of this nature.
