NRI Charged: In Rural Ludhiana, a distressing case has emerged as the police registered charges against a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) named Harshwinder Singh and his accomplice Baldev Singh for alleged sexual harassment of a 29-year-old woman.
The victim, who worked as a caretaker at the NRI’s residence and also served as a cook for Baldev Singh, recounted disturbing incidents.
Harshwinder Singh and Baldev Singh, hailing from Ramgarh Sivia village in Ludhiana, Punjab, are the accused in this distressing case.

The complainant narrated that the NRI’s family had relocated to Canada, entrusting her with the responsibility of overseeing their household. Similarly, Baldev Singh’s family also resides abroad.
The woman detailed that on February 5, the accused visited her residence and subjected her to sexual harassment.
Additionally, she disclosed that in October 2023, Baldev Singh had sexually assaulted her while she was helping him fasten curtains at his place. Shockingly, she had kept this traumatic incident to herself until now.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Surinder Singh, assigned to investigate the matter, confirmed the registration of a First Information Report under section 354-A pertaining to sexual harassment of the Indian Penal Code IPC against the accused. The authorities are actively pursuing the arrest of the suspects.
This distressing incident underscores the importance of swift and thorough legal action to ensure justice for the victim and prevent such atrocities in the future.
