Indian Women: Amidst a backdrop of burgeoning women-friendly policies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the landscape for female workers from India in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is poised for significant expansion, particularly within the hospitality and construction sectors, according to insights from Huntr, a leading blue-collar worker marketplace.

Huntr’s senior executive highlighted a projected growth of over 71 percent in the influx of women workers from India to MENA countries.

Notably, there has been a notable 23 percent surge in demand for female migrants in 2023 within the hospitality and construction industries compared to the previous year.

This growth trajectory is expected to accelerate with the implementation of increasingly women-friendly policies, such as the removal of restrictions during night hours.

The CEO of Huntr, Samuel Joy, emphasized that the forecast is based on a comprehensive mixed-method approach, blending quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews drawn from a substantial sample size of 100K blue-collar workers enlisted on their platform.

Presently, there are approximately 3.5M Indian women employed in the Middle East, a figure projected to soar to 6M within the next 2-3 years, aligning with the escalating demand.

However, the report also sheds light on an existing gender gap, with men currently occupying a substantial 83 percent of skilled jobs in MENA countries.

Efforts to address this imbalance and foster greater gender inclusivity in the workforce are imperative for ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity across industries in the region.
