Germany is grappling with a shortage of qualified nursing staff, projected to require an additional 500K nurses by this decade, further intensified by demographic shifts.
To address this challenge, the Triple Win Program, initiated in 2013 by the German Federal Employment Agency, facilitates the migration of skilled nurses to Germany.
Germany’s New Work Program
This collaborative effort involves the placement of overseas nursing professionals through an agreement between the German Federal Employment Agency and Norka Roots.
The program focuses on selecting and placing nurses, particularly from Kerala, who undergo language and technical training for the German healthcare system. Additionally, they receive support for settling into life and careers in Germany. Upon arrival, nurses work towards the official recognition of their qualifications within 12 months.
Adopting the Triple Win approach, this program ensures benefits for both the home country and host country, as well as the individual migrants. German healthcare facilities can hire these skilled nurses to address workforce shortages.
The initial one-year working visa transitions to a resident permit after successful completion of the recognition process and the B2 exam in Germany. After five years, this visa can be converted into a permanent resident permit.
Applicants incur no costs for placement, language and technical training, and integration support. Prior to departure, a medical examination and measles vaccination are mandatory, with the associated expenses covered by the Triple Win program.
