In an exclusive interview with The Globe and Mail, Minister Miller emphasized that this visionary undertaking aligns seamlessly with Canada’s ambitious immigration targets.

The nation aspires to welcome a staggering 500K immigrants annually by the year 2025, thereby fostering population growth that has proven instrumental in propelling Canada’s economic prosperity to new heights.

The comprehensive plan is particularly significant given the estimated 300K to 600K individuals currently residing in Canada without valid documentation, exposing them to the looming threat of deportation due to their lack of formal immigration status.

This innovative program is poised to address not only those who initially entered the country without proper documentation but also individuals who, although initially arrived legally as temporary workers or international students, chose to extend their stay beyond the expiration of their visas.

Minister Miller clarified that this groundbreaking program will not extend its benefits to all undocumented individuals, especially those who have recently entered the country.

The proposed plan, outlining the systematic process for undocumented immigrants to regularize their status, is anticipated to be presented to the cabinet in the upcoming spring, marking a pivotal moment in Canada‘s commitment to inclusive immigration policies.
