Dr. Bhavya Lal’s journey at NASA commenced with her pivotal role as the acting chief of staff during the initial 100 days of the Biden-Harris Administration.
Leading the agency’s transition under President Biden, she showcased unparalleled leadership, ensuring NASA’s seamless continuity of purpose. As the first woman to hold the position of acting chief technologist in NASA’s history, Dr. Lal shattered glass ceilings, paving the way for future generations.
Shaping Policy, Technology, and Strategy
In her role as associate administrator for technology, policy, and strategy, Dr. Lal orchestrated a dynamic team within the Office of Technology, Policy, and Strategy (OTPS).
Her mission: is to provide evidence-driven advice to NASA leadership on internal and external policy issues, strategic planning, and technology investments. From the Artemis program to tackling orbital debris challenges, Dr. Bhavya Lal’s counsel has been instrumental in steering NASA through both near- and long-term objectives.
