Anjali Sud’s journey commenced in Detroit, Michigan, as the daughter of Punjabi Hindu immigrants from India. Growing up in Flint, Michigan, she exhibited early signs of tenacity that would define her future endeavours. At the age of 14, Sud left her hometown to enrol at Phillips Andover Academy, a selective private school in Andover, Massachusetts.

The journey was not without challenges, as she faced failures during her first year at the prestigious boarding school, as reported by Business Insider.

Undeterred by setbacks, Sud pursued her academic ambitions and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005 with a B.Sc. in Finance and Management. Her thirst for knowledge led her to Harvard Business School, where she earned her MBA in 2011.

Career Trajectory

Anjali Sud’s professional journey unfolded across various domains, including finance, media, and e-commerce. From her roles at Sagent Advisors, and Time Warner, to her tenure at Amazon between 2005 and 2014, Sud garnered diverse experiences that would later contribute to her success.

In 2014, Sud joined Vimeo, an IAC subsidiary, marking a pivotal moment in her career. Initially serving as the Head of Global Marketing, she later assumed the role of General Manager, overseeing the growth of Vimeo’s core creator business. Under her leadership, Vimeo witnessed significant launches, including Vimeo Business, 360 video support, and video collaboration tools.

The turning point came in July 2017 when Anjali Sud was appointed as the CEO of Vimeo. In a strategic shift, the company refocused its efforts from original content to providing software and tools for video creators.

Sud spearheaded key acquisitions, including Livestream in September 2017, Magisto in April 2019, and video software startups WIREWAX and Wibbitz in November 2021.

Strategic Triumphs and Financial Milestones

Anjali Sud’s tenure as Vimeo’s CEO was marked by strategic triumphs and remarkable financial milestones. In November 2020, Vimeo raised $150 million in equity, followed by another $300 million in January 2021, valuing the company at $5 billion.

The pinnacle of success came in May 2021 when IAC completed a spinoff of Vimeo into an independent publicly-traded company on Nasdaq (ticker: VMEO), with a valuation of $6 billion.

Despite these achievements, Sud’s journey was not without its share of challenges. On July 5, 2023, after nine years at Vimeo and six years as CEO, she announced her departure, leaving behind a legacy of transformation and growth.

Transition to Tubi

On July 17, 2023, Anjali Sud revealed her next chapter, announcing her role as the new CEO of Tubi, a free streaming service. This move, replacing founder Farhad Massoudi, showcased Sud’s adaptability and vision for the evolving landscape of content consumption.
