Amish Shah‘s story begins with his upbringing in Chicago, where his parents, engineering students from India, instilled in him the values of hard work and determination.

A product of Catholic education from grades K-12, Shah’s academic journey led him to Northwestern University, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. His pursuit of knowledge continued at Northwestern University Medical School, where he excelled as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education.

After medical school, Dr. Amish Shah took an unconventional turn, working for LEK Consulting, LLC, an international strategy consulting firm.

His commitment to public health took him to the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a Master’s in Public Health with a full Merit Scholarship. The trajectory of his career then led him to residency training in Emergency Medicine at New York City’s busiest Level I trauma centre.

In the high-stakes world of emergency medicine, Dr. Shah’s contributions were nothing short of groundbreaking. He earned national recognition by winning the American Academy of Emergency Medicine’s National Resident Research Competition for inventing a new method to provide care for the critically ill.

His journey led him to Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, where he not only taught medical students and residents but also led the New York Jets Airway Management Team, contributing to the improvement of emergency management in the NFL.

A Leader in Medicine and Sports: Board Certified and Beyond

Dr. Shah’s commitment to excellence extended to his time at the University of Arizona’s Sports Medicine fellowship, where he focused on ultrasound-guided procedures and diagnostics. Currently board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Sports Medicine, he practices throughout Arizona, offering his expertise to both adults and children.Beyond the confines of his medical practice, Dr. Amish Shah has been a force for positive change in the community. He founded the first Arizona Vegetarian Food Festival, promoting healthy eating and disease prevention.

His philanthropic efforts extend to organizations like Sounds Academy and the Humane Society of the United States, reflecting his commitment to children’s exposure to the arts and the promotion of a compassionate society.

From Healing Hands to Legislative Halls: Amish Shah’s Political Ascent

In 2018, Amish Shah entered the political arena, running for the Arizona House of Representatives. A newcomer, he faced challenges but emerged victorious, defeating incumbent Representative Ken Clark. His subsequent re-elections and victories, alongside Representative Jennifer Longdon, solidified his position as a Democratic stalwart.

Fast forward to January 9, 2023, Shah assumed office in District 5, having successfully navigated the complexities of redistricting in Arizona. His dedication to public service and ability to find common ground with colleagues from any party earned him recognition and awards, including the prestigious Arizona Capitol Times’ Best Political Rising Star for two consecutive years.

A Vision for Congress: Bridging Differences for Positive Change

In April 2023, Amish Shah announced his candidacy for U.S. Congress in Arizona’s 1st congressional district, setting the stage for the 2024 elections. His campaign reflects his unique approach, having visited over 15,000 households with a commitment to meeting people where they are.

In a press release, Dr. Shah stated, “Serving in Congress is an opportunity to make an even greater positive impact on issues affecting Arizona.” His legislative track record, including Bills signed into law and unwavering support for public schools and healthcare access, speaks to his commitment to meaningful change.
