17 US University Delegation Visiting India Soon

US University Officials to Visit India

A 31-member delegation comprising provosts, vice provosts, deans, and leaders from 17 prominent US universities is set to journey to India next week.

Their mission aims to fortify collaboration and enhance student and scholar mobility between the US and India. During their visit to New Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, they will engage with 26 institutions.

This initiative assumes greater significance following recent incidents of attacks on Indian students and those of Indian origin across the country. It builds on previous government-led efforts to foster mutually beneficial strategies.

Sarah Ilchman, co-president of the Institute of International Education (IIE), expressed anticipation about discussing collaboration and fostering enduring partnerships between institutions.

Last year’s state visits by the respective presidents and prime ministers affirmed the US-India Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership.

Ilchman highlighted the record numbers of Indian students and scholars in the US, noting the exciting prospect of deepening engagement and collaboration with Indian institutions.

She emphasized the diverse offerings of the US higher education system, which attract students from around the globe. Many Indian students and scholars have leveraged opportunities in the US to establish organizations and companies making significant contributions.

Overall, the delegation’s visit underscores the commitment to strengthening educational ties between the US and India, offering promising avenues for further cooperation and exchange.
