12 Indians: UK immigration enforcement officials apprehended eleven men and one woman, all Indian nationals, for violating visa terms and engaging in illegal employment.
Raids conducted at a bedding and mattress factory, as well as a cake factory in England’s West Midlands, led to the arrests following intelligence suggesting illegal labour activities.
12 Indians Arrested
Seven Indian men were apprehended for suspected illegal work at the bedding factory, while four more were found breaching visa conditions at the nearby cake factory, with one additionally working unlawfully.
An Indian woman was also arrested for immigration offenses at a residential establishment.
Four individuals will remain in custody pending deportation consideration, while the remaining eight were released on bail under the condition of reporting to immigration authorities.
Businesses implicated in the incident face potential hefty fines for employing undocumented workers and failing to conduct adequate pre-employment checks.
Michael Tomlinson, UK Minister for Countering Illegal Migration, emphasized the intensification of immigration enforcement nationwide, highlighting the government’s commitment to cracking down on such violations.
Tomlinson warned of escalated penalties for employers found flouting regulations, stressing swift action to remove unauthorized workers from the country.
