Starting as a software and robotics engineer in 2003, he focused on the robotic assembly of the International Space Station (ISS). His engineering excellence soon propelled him into the role of ISS Flight Director from 2014 to 2017, where he led multinational teams in orchestrating missions aboard the orbiting laboratory.
During Expedition 50, he served as the lead flight director, demonstrating unmatched skill and composure—a performance that earned him the prestigious NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal. He later became deputy, and then acting manager, of the ISS Vehicle Office, managing logistics, hardware, and sustaining engineering.

Amit Kshatriya’s brilliance is rooted in a strong academic foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and a Master of Arts in mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Born in Brookfield, Wisconsin to first-generation Indian immigrants, he proudly considers Katy, Texas his hometown.
