Ramayana: Alia Bhatt walks out due to date issues

Alia Bhatt : In a surprising turn of events, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana adaptation has faced a setback as Alia Bhatt, who was initially set to portray Sita, has exited the project due to unforeseen date issues. The highly anticipated film had garnered attention for its casting choices, with Ranbir Kapoor secured for the role of Ram, and the possibility of Kannada star Yash taking on the character of Ravana.

The news about Alia Bhatt’s departure from the project was revealed by a report from Pinkvilla, shedding light on the intricate details of the production. According to the report, while Ranbir Kapoor’s commitment to the role of Lord Ram remains steadfast, Alia Bhatt’s discussions to play Goddess Sita unfortunately fell through due to scheduling conflicts. Sources close to the production team conveyed that the filmmakers are meticulously refining every aspect of the movie, causing a slight delay in the commencement of shooting.

Contrary to earlier rumours, it has been confirmed that Yash is still a part of the ambitious project, dispelling speculations about his exit. This revelation brings a sigh of relief to fans who were eagerly awaiting the on-screen portrayal of the formidable Ravana by the talented Kannada actor.

Alia Bhatt & Director Nitesh Tiwari

Interestingly, director Nitesh Tiwari had maintained an air of secrecy around the cast in a past interview, neither confirming nor denying the participation of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Yash. He had teased that an official announcement was imminent, keeping the anticipation alive among enthusiasts of both the Ramayana epic and Indian cinema.

The undertaking of reimagining such a revered narrative holds the potential for controversy, as demonstrated by the recent adaptations of the Ramayana. Notably, Kangana Ranaut, who is set to lead her own Ramayana project titled “Sita: The Incarnation,” voiced her opinions about the casting choices for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. In a candid Instagram post, she questioned the decision to cast a particular actor she referred to as a “skinny white rat” as Lord Rama, while praising Yash’s potential suitability for the role due to his appearance and demeanour.
