In 2019, at just 17 years old, Akshay Bhatia made his first PGA Tour start at the Valspar Championship through a sponsor exemption. Though he missed the cut, the experience was invaluable. It offered a glimpse of the arena he intended to conquer.
Later that year, after competing in the Walker Cup, he made the bold decision to turn professional—skipping the traditional college route. For many, it was a gamble. For Bhatia, it was belief.

In 2021, he qualified for the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines and made the cut in his first major championship appearance, finishing tied for 57th. That week signaled he belonged.
In January 2022, he secured his first Korn Ferry Tour victory at The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic in his debut start as a member. Yet the season proved challenging, as he narrowly missed earning a PGA Tour card by finishing 30th in the regular season standings.

Breakthrough on the PGA Tour
The turning point arrived in 2023. After earning Special Temporary Member status, Bhatia delivered a breakthrough performance at the Barracuda Championship in July, winning in a playoff for his first PGA Tour title. It was also his first European Tour victory.
The victory was more than a trophy—it was validation of years of risk-taking and perseverance.
Then came April 2024.
At the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio, Bhatia found himself in another playoff, this time against Denny McCarthy. With poise and precision, he secured his second PGA Tour win. The victory earned him the final invitation to the 2024 Masters Tournament.
In a poetic twist, the 2014 Drive, Chip & Putt finalist had become the first past participant to qualify for the Masters.
