In 2022, Ajay Raman made history as the first Indian-American ever elected to the Oakland County Board of Commissioners. The moment, marked by an intimate swearing-in ceremony led by Justice Sima Patel, was more than symbolic—it represented a breakthrough in representation, diversity, and inclusion in local government.
