Papparaidu Veraman’s political journey took a significant turn during the 2023 Selangor state election, when he stepped forward to contest as a candidate for the Democratic Action Party (DAP) under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. With his deep understanding of social justice, human rights, and governance, Papparaidu earned the trust of voters and secured a landslide victory in Banting, a constituency known for its diversity.

Winning the seat with a staggering majority of 22,102 votes, Papparaidu Veraman demonstrated his strong connection with the people. His win not only marked his successful debut as a Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) but also underscored his ability to unite communities from all walks of life.

Selangor EXCO: A Trailblazer for Indian Representation

Following the PH-BN coalition’s victory in the 2023 Selangor state election, Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari recognized Papparaidu’s leadership and entrusted him with key portfolios in the Selangor State Executive Council. On August 21, 2023, Papparaidu was officially appointed as the Selangor EXCO Member, becoming the only Indian representative in the council.

His portfolios include:

  1. Human Resources
  2. Poverty Eradication
  3. Indigenous and Minority Affairs
  4. Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Taoism (LIMAS)

These crucial responsibilities highlight Papparaidu’s commitment to inclusivity, equality, and community upliftment. By championing the causes of Malaysia’s diverse minorities, Papparaidu brings a voice to underrepresented communities while fostering interfaith harmony and cultural unity.
