Yugendran Vasudevan, a name synonymous with versatility and passion, has made remarkable contributions across multiple creative fields, including playback singing, acting, music direction, and television production. Born on December 20, 1976, Yugendran is more than an accomplished artist—he is an inspiring figure whose career showcases the power of talent, resilience, and innovation.

A Legacy Rooted in Music

Hailing from a family steeped in musical excellence, Yugendran Vasudevan is the son of the legendary Malaysia Vasudevan, a Malaysian-born Tamil playback singer and actor. From an early age, Yugendran was surrounded by the melodies and rhythms that would define his path. His sister, Prashanthini, also inherited the family’s musical talent and continues to shine as a playback singer in films like 12B, Veyil, and Vaaranam Aayiram.

Yugendran Vasudevan’s journey in music began as a Mridangamist, a feat rare for someone so young. His debut solo performance at just 10 years old marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to artistry. Under the mentorship of luminaries like Ilaiyaraaja, Yugendran flourished. His first playback song for the film Uzhavan Magan laid the foundation for a career that would see him collaborating with legends like A.R. Rahman and younger talents like Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Yugendran Vasudevan’s breakout in playback singing came with the hit song Pollaachi Santhaiyile in the film Rojavanam. His voice, a seamless blend of emotion and energy, has graced numerous Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films. Singing for celebrated composers, Yugendran’s contribution to cinema has left an indelible mark.

His versatility extended beyond India’s borders, captivating audiences worldwide in Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and the United States. These global performances cemented his place as a dynamic entertainer capable of bridging cultures through music.

Yugendran Vasudevan’s creativity extends behind the scenes as a producer and host. With his wife, Hayma Malini, he co-founded Rambutan Media Works, a production company that later became 23 Frames Pte Ltd. The company has produced content across India, Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.

Notable shows like Endrendrum Punnagai and Sollathaan Ninaikirain have resonated with audiences, showcasing his ability to create meaningful, engaging television. Yugendran Vasudevan’s personal life is a testament to the importance of balance and support. He met his wife, Hayma Malini, during a performance in Sri Lanka, and together, they have built a beautiful family with three children: Visashan Naarayan, Kishan Naarayan, and Darshan Naarayan Nair.

Having lived in India, Malaysia, and Singapore, the family now resides in Auckland, New Zealand, where Yugendran leads Rambutan Media Works NZ Limited and the Aroha NZ Charitable Trust. These ventures reflect his commitment to giving back to society and nurturing talent.
