Canada Reopens: Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have reopened the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP).
This year, the IRCC plans to issue 35.7K invitations to potential sponsors, aiming to approve 20.5K applications for Canadian permanent residency.
Canada Reopens Family….
The upcoming round of invitations will focus on candidates who submitted their profiles during the 2020 intake, marking the fourth consecutive year that the PGP has relied on this pool of applicants through a lottery system.
Invitations will be sent via the email address provided in the original interest to sponsor forms, so potential sponsors are advised to monitor their emails regularly, with all invitations expected to be distributed within approximately two weeks.
The PGP plays a crucial role in IRCC’s family reunification strategy, allowing Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents for permanent residency in Canada.
Successful applicants will receive permanent residence status upon their arrival in Canada.
Sponsors and applicants should thoroughly review the eligibility criteria and ensure they meet all requirements before the program’s reopening.
For those not selected through the PGP lottery, the Super Visa offers an alternative route, allowing extended visits for parents and grandparents.
The PGP’s reopening underscores Canada’s commitment to family reunification, providing a vital opportunity for families to be together.
As the date approaches, potential sponsors are encouraged to stay vigilant and prepared for the invitation process.
