Indian-Origin: A Singaporean security officer of Indian descent, Durendran Vicknesh Venkatraman, faces charges for providing false information to the police after a fake bomb incident sparked panic.
Venkatraman, aged 46, was responsible for disposing of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) used in a security training exercise at the Sing Industrial Complex in Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park.

However, instead of disposing of the fake bomb as instructed, Venkatraman left it in a public area, causing alarm among nearby individuals. This prompted authorities to deploy police resources and restrict entry for approximately 100 people until the item was confirmed as a hoax.
Reportedly missing for over five hours, Venkatraman allegedly misled authorities upon his return, falsely claiming he had disposed of the device.
According to a senior police official, Venkatraman was expected to dispose of the fake IED upon receiving a call from the exercise team.
The case has been adjourned until April 30. If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence of up to six months and a fine of up to 5K Singaporean dollars.
The incident underscores the serious repercussions of mishandling security training materials and the importance of adherence to protocols in such exercises to prevent public alarm and ensure safety.
